RE: Repair PVC Drain without replacing?
Last Update:
Thanks for all the suggestions.
It turned out that the leak was at the drain flange where it meets the tub floor. It finally got warm enough to not worry about freezing, so I put the drain plug in and dumped a gallon of water in the tub. I reached up in the tiny front access and water was coming in with the tub plugged. I dried it out and put a bead of silicon stuff on the flange and let it dry. That stopped the leak so I think the problem is solved. There is not much room to get a wrench in there, so I think I'll get by with a bead of silicon for now. I canceled the repair appointment so no hit to the checkbook. Thanks again all.
Repair PVC Drain without replacing?
I figured out what is causing the leak in my shower. The leak was right below the tub. There appears to be a crack in the PVC P trap. The problem is that the access vent is only about 6" by 8". The area around the pipe is even smaller. I guess it would be necessary to remove the tub to get to it. I don't want to do it myself and I'm pretty sure a repair shop would need about $500 to do it.
Here's my question: what are my options to reinforce the PVC pipe without cutting it or removing the tub? Can I paint the cracks with some glue and stop the slow leak? What glue should be used? Should I use plumber's tape? Thanks in advance.
RE: Shower Faucet- How do I take it apart? (picture)
Thanks, on second look, there seems to be a false space on the front edge of the tub wall. It looks like I have to take off the 3" strip of paneling to get to the fittings. Now I just have to figure out how to open edge without destroying all the trim. I'm not very good at this. :(
Shower Faucet- How do I take it apart? (picture)
The is the shower faucet/manifold in an RVision 2003 Trail-Lite 8263S.
I can't figure out how to take this thing apart. The black base plate seems like it should unlock, but I can't figure it out. It will slide from side to side about an eighth of an inch, but that's all. I can't get behind it without punching a hole in the kitchen. It seems like it will break if I try to pop it off. Any ideas?
There seems to be a leak behind it and I'm hoping its just a loose hose clamp.
The picture thingy times out on me, but if you paste the link below in your address bar, it will bring up a picture of the part.
